Nearing the gateway to Tibet, we pass Sing Gompa and enter the realm of the sacred Lake of Gosaikunda. This holy lake is popular among the Hindu and Buddhist and is said to be the home of the Hindu God- Shiva. From the serene waterfalls to the glaciers, this trek can be regarded as one of the most popular treks in all of Langtang region.

We start our adventure by driving all the way to Syabrubesi from the capital city of Kathmandu. Through Lama Hotel we reach the gateway to Langtang Valley- the Langtang National park. This national park is home to numerous floras and faunas which adds more to the epic trek. Some other attraction includes the Kyanjin Gompa (3,800m) – where we can visit the old cheese factory started in 1955, the holy Lake of Gosaikunda (4,300m) and the pristine Langtang river.

Langtang valley is one of the naturally rich valleys in the country and houses the scenery of the Langtang Himal that surrounds it. From the ice glaciers to the lavish Rhododendron forest, the blissful art of the will keep you mesmerized. The villages that we will pass are also part of this journey and as you stop at these villages you will get to witness the friendly villagers and their unique lifestyle and cultures.

Our trek starts off by a drive to Syabrubesi to the northern side of Kathmandu from where we will enter the enticing Langtang National Park. As we enter the hidden Langtang valley we can see a variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Our next stop is the Kyanjin Gompa with its cultural richness and Buddhist tradition. Nearing the end of the journey we will witness one of the holiest and most religion lake in Nepal- Gosaikunda Lake famous among Hindu and Buddhist alike.

Although it is possible to trek all year round, the most feasible and suitable time to take on this journey would be during spring and autumn. March-May and September – December is the optimum time as the sky is clear and you can watch the blissful mountain tops. If you decided to travel after May, the everlasting rain may provide a hindrance to the tour. Any late than December and you will be trekking in icy cold winter.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

This is your first day in Nepal. You will arrive via Tribhuvan International Airport from where you will be assisted to your hotel room. After the short briefing about the tour, considering the timing of your arrival you will have the evening to yourself. You can stroll around the city and enjoy the exquisite night life of the Thamel Area. You can even prepare for your tour and buy all the necessary clothes or other materials.

Day 2: Kathmandu – Syabrubesi (1,550m)

We depart from Kathmandu to the village of Syabrubesi to the north of the capital. After our breakfast, we drive through the picturesque landscape and the scenery of the rural villages and the green meadow. Through the window, we can see the soaring Himalayas at the distance peaking at us. The long ride will definitely seem a short one with the scenic nature to gaze our eyes upon. We reach Syabrubesi and stay for the night. 8 hours of drive.

Day 3: Syabrubesi – Lama Hotel (2,380m)

After our breakfast in Syabru, we descend down. We walk pass the busy Syabrubesi street and on to the rocky paths. Now, the mountains become visible. Through the thick forest, we reach Bamboo village (1,850m). We trek upstream and cross a long suspension bridge located above the Langtang River. Few more stretches through the lush Rhododendron forestand we will reach the Lama Hotel where we rest for the night. 6 hours of walk. BLD included

Day 4: Lama Hotel – Langtang Village (3,541m)

We take our breakfast and head down through the thick forests. After walking through the rocky trail we come across a slight uphill path to the valley. Through there we will reach Ghore Tabela (Horse Stable in English) filled with wildlife and plants. As we trek closer to the Langtang National Park entrance, the view of the Langtang Lirung (7,234m) becomes more svisible. Moving alongside the serene Langtang river we will reach Langtang where we will stop for the night. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 5: Langtang Village – Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m)

From Langtang village we leave early morning after our breakfast. Passing various welcoming villages, we cross the huge mani. Continuing on our trek alongside the river bed, we can see the enamoring Mt. Ganchempo alongside the Langtang Lirung. The greenery of the yak pastures is definitely worth the great snaps and with the great mountains in the backdrop, the view is breathtaking. We then descend and reach Kyanjin Gompa– one of the major attractions of the tour. We stay for the night. 5 hours of walk. BLD included

Day 6: Excursion in Kyanjin Gompa

This is a good time to adjust and try for acclimatization. We can even stroll around various spots in the valley. Alternatives can be the exploration of Langshihsa Kharka and even Kyangji Ri(4,773m). The view of the surrounding mountains looks great atop this small mountain. There’s an old cheese factory that we can visit as well. We can gaze at the natural scenery and the lushness of the yak pastures and spend our day in peace and tranquility. BLD included

Day 7: Kyanjin Gompa – Lama Hotel

We travel back to where we came from and pass the same route to traverse back. Through the Rhododendron forest and alongside Langtang river, we will pass Ghorey Tabela and then to Lama Hote. 5 hours of walk. BLD included

Day 8: Lama Hotel – Thulo Syabru (2,230m)

Early breakfast and we start our trek. We will pass through various Sherpa and Tamang villages and reach Syabrubesi. We then change our route from the one we initially took. This will be the start of the second destination of our trek. The rocky trail passes through the Rhododendron and Bamboo forests. We trek downhill until we reach Thulo Syabru. From here, the magnificence of the great Ganesh Himal becomes even more imminent. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 9: Thulo Syabru – Sing Gompa (3,330m)

Leaving Thulo Syabru we start climbing uphill and enter the forest. We each Dimsa after which we cross the Rhodendron and Hemlock forest and reach Chandabari. There is a cheese factory in Chandabari which we can visit. The mountains will start to look closer and bigger. Through the oak and fir forest, we will ascend and reach Sing Gompa. This is an ancient Buddhist monastery famous among the locals and the tourists alike. We will stay the night. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 10: Sing Gompa – Gosaikunda (4,460m)

Our destination this day would be the holy lake of Gosaikunda. We will be ascending quite a bit so we suggest proceeding with caution. The trail goes up and becomes harder. We will Lauribinayak where the strong winds hurl right in your eyes. We will trek up for few stretches and reach Gosaikunda Lake. There are villages around with Tamang and Bhotias settlements. This Gosaikunda Lake has many religious and cultural values. It will be a good idea to pay your homage in the Holy temple. 6 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 11: Gosaikunda – Ghopte (3,440m)

Early morning breakfast and we depart from Gosaikunda. We will climb downhill and cross a high pass. The trails are rocky but not difficult to proceed. Walking down the forest we will reach the village of Ghopte. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 12: Ghopte – Melamchigaon (2,560m)

Leaving the Ghopte village we will descend through the pine and Juniper forest. We will Tharepati and from there we will pass through the lush Rhodendron forest- perhaps the last one on the trip. The forests have ample species of birds and the sound of them chirping will accompany you to your next destination. There’s a ridge from where the view of the Jugal area can be seen. Descending down, we will reach Melamchigaon. The Melamchi River runs under the village. We will stay overnight at a lodge. 5 hours of walk. BLD included

Day 13: Melamchigaon – Tarke Gyang (2, 590m)

As we descend down the steep path we will reach Melamchi river. From there, we again head up the hill to the other side of the valley and reach the village of Tarke Gyang. The village consists of Sherpa settlement. There’s also an ancient Gompa that was built in the 18th century- definitely worth a decent picture. We will have plenty of time to observe the Sherpa way of life and check out their unique lifestyle and culture. 4 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 14: Tarke Gyang – Sermathang (2,610m)

This day we will be walking through the flat land. On the way, we will pass various Sherpa villages. Downhill trek is not as strenuous as the one you have been through. Reach Sermathang we can look around the ancient monasteries. The sight of majestic Jugal Himal, Rolwaling, Langtang Lirung looks majestic from here. We reach Sermathang and stay overnight at a lodge. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 15: Sermathang – Melamchipul (846m)

The trekking is very easy as we trek downhill through the green meadow. On the way, we will pass through the last Sherpa village on our trip- Kakani. We will reach Melamchipul– the end destination for our trek. We will have lots of time to stroll around the Melamchibazar and may even buy souvenir to bring back home. 3 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 16: Melamchipul – Kathmandu

After our breakfast, we will drive back to the capital city of Kathmandu. We will witness the beautiful landscape on the back drop of the gorgeous Himalayas, the green meadows, the country road and several villages on our way back. Reaching Kathmandu, you will have some time to stroll around and shop for some souvenirs. Thamel is one place where you can visit to enjoy the nightlife in Kathmandu. 6 hours of drive.

Day 17: Departure

This brings the end of the journey. You will be transported to the Tribhuvan International Airport based on the timing of your plane.
