The highest altitude of this trek is the Mardi Himal Base camp situated at the height of 4,500m. The panoramic view of the Annapurna ranges and the Fish tail mountain from this point calls for one of the best scenes in this entire trek. The 360-degree view of the mountains will leave anyone speechless on the face of the natural prowess that one witnesses.

The best time to trek would be the Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September – October) as the path are clear with no sign of rain or extreme cold. Even among the two, Autumn is the regarded as the best time to trek in Nepal. Although you can trek all year round, the climate and weather plays a crucial role in the success of your trek.

Mardi Himal Base Camp trek starts from Pokhara. We move to Ghandruk village and through the forest camp, we will reach Badhal Danda. From high Camp we will ascend to Base camp and descend down. We will return via Dhampus and get back to Pokhara.

As for the difficulty rating, this trek has been rated as easy or moderate trekking route. Although it is a perfect way to start the trekking career, we do suggest proper fitness measures before taking it on. We will be trekking higher than 4,000m which may result into serious altitude sickness if we continue haphazardly. Acclimatization is a must and prior trekking experience can be a huge asset. Although the rocky trail may be pose some difficulty, it is easy overlooked by the view of the gorgeous alpine landscape, great Himalayas and the lavish Rhododendron forests.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

This day you will arrive in the capital city of Kathmandu via Tribhuwan International Airport. From there you will be transported in a private vehicle to your hotel. After a briefing of the tour, you can put forth all the queries that you have. Depending upon the timing of your arrival, you may have time to stroll around the city.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Before jumping on to the trek, we will do a sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley. This days, you will observe the beauty of the capital city. From the ridiculously large amount of temples to other cultural and religion place, you will get to know why Kathmandu is considered one of the cultural hub of Nepal. Also, you will get to know why they call this city ‘The city of the temple’. We will visit various world heritage sites including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath. At the end of the day, you can enjoy the light life at Thamel area. After returning to the hotel get packing for the next day.

Day 3: Kathmandu – Pokhara

We take our breakfast in the hotel and drive all the way to Pokhara. This will be rather long drive as Pokhara is 200km far from the capital but it nowhere a boring one. From the various villages t the green hills and the blissful river running alongside, there are plenty of thing to witness through the windows. We will reach Pokhara latest by evening and we will time to enjoy the beautiful place known to be the Tourist hotspot of Nepal. There you can opt for boating or visit the lakeside and enjoy the delicious food. There are several pubs and bars as well. 7 hours of drive.

Day 4: Pokhara – Pitam Deurali (2,100m)

After our breakfast in the hotel we will drive Kande. This is a short drive and will take us to the start of your trekking destination – Kande. We start my trekking up the rocky steps. Reaching Pitam Deurali we stop for the day. We don’t have to walk long so this is a good day to enjoy the evening in the greenery. Overnight at the lodge. 2 hours of drive. 3 hours of walk. Day 5: Pitam Deurali – Forest Camp (3,050m)

We start by ascending uphills through the lavish Rhododendron forests and the birds chirping in the woods. The trail is not so rocky nor too difficult and doesn’t cause much hardship. We pass Pothana Deurali and pass other villages and reach the Forest camp where we stay for the night. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 6: Forest Camp – Badhal Danda (3,200m)

After our breakfast in Forest camp we will trek uphill alongside a ridge. We are gifted with the grandeur view of Mt. Macchapuchre and Mardi Himal. Continuing on we trek crossing the thick forests and enjoying the exquisite red Rhododendron. After exiting the forest, we will walk alongside the Modi river. Ascending more, we will be able to enjoy the picturesque view of Annapurna South (7,219m), Macchapuchre (6,993m) and Hiuchuli(6,441m). Passing through the Low Camp (2,950m) me move up and reach Badhal Danda which translates to ‘cloud hill’. We stay overnight at the lodge. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 7: Badhal Danda – High Camp (3,600m)

This day we move up towards the high camp. After trekking uphill we reach shrubby alpine land. There is a Rhododendron forests with shrubs and bushes. Crossing the forests, we trek while enjoying the magnificent view of the western Himalayas. The national bird of Nepal- Danphe can occasionally be seen in the area and if we are lucky, we will get to see one as well. Slight ascend and we reach the High camp where we stay for the night. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 8: Excursion at Mardi Himal Base camp

This will be a tough day as we will get to visit the Mardi HImal Base Camp– the main attraction for the tour. Early morning, we move upward following a series of rocky trials. The uneven rocks and the high altitude will pose a hindrance to walk. There is a ridge up ahead and after that we reach our destination. The view from the basecamp is exhilarating with the beautiful view of the mountains on all side. It is a good time to take great pictures, some selfies with the mountains and enjoy the blissful moment that the nature provided. Stunning view of the Gangapurna, Annapurna Range and Mt. Macchapuchre will leave you spellbound. We, then descend back to High Camp. The descent, however is as thrilling as ever as we have to drop down the steep cliffs and rocky lands. 7 hours of walk. Day 9: High Camp -Sidhing (1,700m)

Enjoying the enamoring and delightful sunrise, we will take our breakfast and descend. However, we will take a different route back home. We pass through the thick forest and reach Upper Mardi region. We will reach the quite village of Sidhing which is not your traditional way back. So, it is quite and away from the bustling trekkers. Descending further we reach Sidhing where we stay overnight in the lodge. 5 hours of walk. BLD included.

Day 10: Sidhing – Lowang (1,500m)

After our breakfast in Sidhing village, we descend through the forests. The path is clearer and easy to trek on. The trail goes mostly downhill and we can enjoy the greenery and mountains along the way. We reach the village of Lowang where we stay overnight at a lodge. BLD included.

Day 11: Lowang – Dhampus (1,650m)

We leave the Lowang village and continue downhills. There’s another forest that we have to pass after which we will reach the rocky land and reach the Dhampus village. From here, the view of the Annapurna mountain range can be seen in a panoramic view. You will see the broad picture of what you saw in close up the past few days. Overnight at a lodge. 5 hours of walk. BLD included

Day 12: Dhampus – Pokhara

This will the last stretch of our trek. We walk downhill to reach Phedi where we end our trek. After a drive to Pokhara we will have lots of time on our hand. One option is to stroll around the lakeside and enjoy the beauty of this touristic city. Cycling is one way to pass time and it is fun too. There are many restaurants you can try. Alternative, just lay down on your hotel bed and get a much deserved sleep. 2 hours of walk. 30 minutes of drive.

Day 13: Pokhara – Kathmandu

We bid farewell to Pokhara after breakfast at the hotel. There is a high likelihood that you will sleep the whole trip due to the long trek you had. If you don’t, then you can enjoy the greenery, the rivers and the villages throughout the way. Reaching Katmandu, its either strolling around the town, buying souvenirs for home or getting a nice sleep back in the hotel. 8 hours of drive.

Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu

This is the end of the journey; you will be transported to the Tribhuvan International Airport depending upon the time of arrival of your flight.
